Christian Love and Marriage Quotes

If a man's love for God is not first in his life, he will eventually run out of love for you. It is God who gives His love to the husband, and your husband gives it to you.

My dad always asks my wife, 'Is he treating you right?' It reminds me of my responsibility to be a good husband. National Fatherhood Initiative

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I Corinthians 13:4-7

A Toast from Father of the Bride
I wish for you (and for me) many beautiful babies.
I wish for you ever stronger collaborations, team work
and partnerships.
I wish for you long conversations - and short fights - which
inexorably and successfully move the whole mass forward.
I wish for you that you always laugh at each other’s jokes and
understand each other’s prose.
I wish for you good health in each other’s arms.
I wish for you fidelity – especially in trying times. It’s the crucial link that holds it all together.
I wish for you romantic marriage vacations – time away for just the two of you. During which I promise to baby sit all those beautiful babies.
And I wish for you, finally, the full joy of reaching the end together – that bittersweet moment when in death you shall part. UNKNOWN

I think a man and a woman should choose each other for life, for the simple reason that a long life with all its accidents is barely enough time for a man and a woman to understand each other and - to understand - is to love."
William Butler Yeats

If you're ever going to love me
love me now, while I can know
All the sweet and tender feeling
which from real affection flow.
Love me now, while I am living;
do not wait till I am gone
And then chisel it in marble--
warm love words on ice-cold stone.

If you've dear, sweet thought of me,
why not whisper them to me?
Don't you know 'twould make me happy
and as glad as glad could be?
If you wait till I am sleeping,
ne'er to waken here again,
There'll be walls of earth between us
and I couldn't hear you then.

If you knew someone was thirsting
for a drop of water sweet
Would you be slow to bring it?
Would you step with laggard feet?
There are tender hearts all round us
who are thirsting for our love;
Why withhold from them what nature
makes them crave all else above?

I won't need your kind caresses
when the grass grows o'er my face;
I won't crave your love or kisses
in my last low resting place.
So, then, if you love me any,
if it's but a little bit,
Let me know it now while living;
I can own and treasure it.

Generally, a woman can never love a man anymore than her husband loves her children. Kevin Leman, Author

The most important decision any of us make is who we marry.
Yet there are no courses on how to choose a spouse. There’s no graduate department in spouse selection studies. Institutions of higher learning devote more resources to semiotics than love.
David Brooks, Advice to Graduates, NY Times, June 10, 2009

Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. Proverbs 10:12

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips. Proverbs 24:26

Another thing you do: You flood the LORD’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because God no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.
You ask, “Why?” It is because the LORD is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Malachai 2:13-14

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Hebrews 13:4

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any blemish, but holy and blameless.
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church — for we are members of His body.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Ephesians 5:25-33

Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the Word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives… It should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:1-2,4

A Toast from Father of the Groom
We can all see that you’re madly in love. That’s definitely the first challenge - to find someone with whom you want to spend the rest of your life.
But the trick and challenge I want to propose to you is that you set out with the goal of falling a little more in love every day. So that by the time you’re eighty, you’re so in love that you wobble when you walk. To do this, you have to have a plan and you have to be deliberate.
So here’s to falling a little more in love each day—and to The Bride and Groom.

When asked his secret of love, being married fifty-four years to the same person, he said, "Ruth and I are happily incompatible." Billy Graham

Don't just follow your heart because your heart can be deceived...but LEAD your heart. Fireproof, the movie
